I wanted to take this opportunity to
talk about something close to my
heart and vital for the future of
Greyhounds in Need—legacies.
I know it’s not always the easiest
subject to think about, but it’s one
that can make a world of difference.
We recently received a generous gift
from Martin, our former trustee and
chairman, in his will. Martin was deeply
passionate about GIN right until the
end, and his legacy is a reminder of how lasting support can shape the future
of our charity.
As a trustee, I see firsthand the incredible work we do every day, but I can
also tell you how much we rely on legacy gifts like Martin’s to continue that
work. Day-to-day donations are our charity’s backbone, helping us respond to
immediate needs, but legacies offer something special—they give us long-term
stability. When someone leaves a legacy to GIN, it’s a commitment we can
depend on, allowing us to think beyond the next few weeks or months and plan
for the years ahead.
Legacies provide the opportunity to dream bigger, to grow, and to ensure our
work has a lasting impact. They allow us to plan for the future with confidence
and expand what we can offer—whether that means building or renovating
rescue shelters in Spain, funding life-saving medical care for injured dogs,
covering transportation costs to get dogs to their forever homes, or
developing educational campaigns to raise awareness and promote change.
The gifts we receive are more than just financial contributions. They are a
testament to the love and commitment our supporters have for galgos and
greyhounds. Legacies help keep the heart of our charity beating strong. It’s
not just about keeping the lights on, though that’s important, too—it’s about
ensuring we can continue to evolve and reach more greyhounds in need.
The ability to rescue, care for, and rehome these beautiful dogs for many
years to come is what makes legacy giving such a powerful gesture. Martin’s
legacy, like so many others, will ensure that GIN’s work continues, saving more
lives and changing the future for both greyhounds and the families who
welcome them.
Thank you for being part of this incredible community. Your support, no
matter the size, makes sure that GIN remains a lifeline for the galgos and
greyhounds who need us the most. And a special thank you to Martin, whose
dedication will live on through the lives we continue to save.
Best wishes
