News from Cheshire and the North West
Hello again everyone,
We hope that you are all well and that you and your dogs have been enjoying the
late summer sunshine.
The last few months have been busy although Phil and I still haven't yet found a
new dog to share our lives. We were very lucky to enjoy good weather in
Cornwall in May but it was strange to be on holiday without at least one
greyhound.
We were in Malta in June and later this month we will be in Spain for a
fortnight. In August we spent a long weekend in London and visited the Harry
Potter film studios, a treat I have long been promising
MARBURY DOG myself.
WALK In July we looked after Phil's brother's greyhounds whilst
he was away for a few days, so we kept our hand in and
then on 30th July we enjoyed a walk and social get
together at Marbury Country Park in Cheshire with a group
of our greyhound friends. We met Tina and Richard who
have adopted a Galgo from GIN, thank you for your very
kind donation to the Charity.
Warm welcomes and Sad goodbyes
Early in the year we learnt of the sad passing of John Hammon, who some of you
may remember with his beloved greyhound Amy. John and his wife Hazel were a
lovely couple and loyal supporters of GIN. John continued to come along to our
events, with Amy of course, for many years after Hazel passed away.
RIP John.
It is twelve months since we visited GIN HQ in Egham where we were made
very welcome by Carolyn, Tracey and Geraldine.
Tracey arranged for us to have a Face Time call with Carolyn on her last
afternoon before she retired in July. We have enjoyed a very happy
relationship with Carolyn and Tracey over the years and we wish Carolyn all the
very best in her well earned retirement. We look forward to our next visit to
Egham when Carolyn has promised to pop in to see us. We know that Tracey will
have had an excellent apprenticeship and that there will be a seamless
transition within the office. We look forward to working with everyone at HQ in
the future.
Freddy
We were devastated to hear on June 1st that Freddy who
we had looked after earlier this year, had suddenly passed
away. His mum and dad, Jen and Roy were understandably
heartbroken at their unexpected bereavement. They
planned on having another dog but not straight away. They
were approached about William, a handsome brindle galgo,
who urgently needed a home. William, now Sunny, moved in
on 21st July. He is a very different character to Freddy, SUNNY
but is still very loving. We met him for the first time on
the Marbury Walk, where he introduced himself to
everyone. He is now gradually adjusting to living in a home.
