Flossie

On the 6 May this year we very sadly had to say goodbye our
beautiful galga Flossie. She’d not long had her 13 birthday
th
and we were lucky enough to have shared nearly 11 ½ years
together. Quite independent when she first came but once
bonded with us she became ‘mine’ and was at her happiest
being with me, although in her youth that independent spirit still
showed on the occasional woodland walk! Her favourite hobby
was squirrel watching, she had to check out any tree where she’d recently seen a squirrel, happy to
spend several minutes staring upwards in the vain hope the squirrel would reappear.
She loved people and gained many fans over the years. She was a wonderful ambassador for her
breed, regularly visiting the GIN office where she knew lots of attention and treats would come her way,
and on the many fundraising events she came to she would plonk herself down on the grass in front of
the stand making sure she got noticed.
All in all she was a bit special.
In the end she had several age related issues, back legs failing and kidney disease and I know she tried
as hard as she could to stay with us but in the end it was her time to go. I’ll be forever grateful for the time
we had together and that we could help her on her next journey in peace at home.
We picture her dancing under trees chasing squirrels on the other side of that rainbow bridge.
Sue, Pete and Galgo Reuben.
