TRIBUTE TO PHIL WHITE
18th January 1957 - 30th May 2024
When I wrote my piece for the Newsletter in the
Spring I never thought that I would be writing a piece
in the Autumn about the passing of my lovely husband
Phil.
I said in my last piece that I could write a book about our experiences
over the past thirty years rehoming greyhounds and galgos, fundraising
and along the way making many friends both doggy and human. I could
certainly write a book about the legend that is Phil White.
Sadly for everyone he left behind on the
evening of Thursday May 30th, Phil went for a
walk to his favourite beach close to our holiday
cottage in Cornwall and never returned. Phil
passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly
sitting by the beach in the evening sunshine
with a smile on his face.
He was in his "happy place".
Phil's legacy is that his passing has shown how much he was loved by
everyone he met, from all walks of life, who remember his smile and his
ability to talk to anyone. His passing has united friends and relatives
who have since been very supportive of me including our greyhound
family, our horsey family, my former work colleagues where he was
accepted as an honorary Golden Girl (he always said that he wasn't yet
ready to become a full time member of the group), together with
members of the quiz team.
