Education update

       Supporting education through the shelters

At GIN, one of our key focuses is supporting shelters in
delivering meaningful educational experiences for schools and
youth organisations. We aim to develop children's
understanding, encourage empathy, and raise awareness about
galgos and animal welfare through engaging resources,
hands-on activities, and thoughtful take-home gifts.

This summer, we've been hard at work
creating new materials to help shelters
engage visiting children in fun and
                                      educational ways.
One of our newest creations is a Design a
                                      Rehoming Shelter activity. Children can
decorate their own shelter using a specially
designed box (which can hold four galgo toy
                                      figures) and a tabletop poster.

On one side of the poster are all the
essential rooms needed in a rescue
shelter, while the other side features
kennels for the dogs. The outside areas
depicted include a car park, exercise
zones, outdoor pens, a dog wash area, and
even a sensory garden. Accompanying the
activity is a guide that supports language
learning, role-play, arts and crafts and
teaches children about the daily workings
       of rescue shelters.

We've also developed a Spanish Language
Poster Pack that includes three posters:
one showcasing why galgos make 'greyt' pets,
another featuring a galgo character colouring
activity for younger children, and a third to
                                    promote understanding that galgos have
                                    feelings too.
