The education programme continues to do well in Spain and we are pleased to support the rescue centres as much as we can.

Galgos del Sol (GDS) are one of the centres we support and last year Tina, who runs GDS, contacted us as they were starting to investigate building a school on wheels so they could travel around Spain and reach more children.

Over the past few months we have been in contact with GDS, they were able to purchase a suitable van to convert into a mobile classroom and we have been able to offer funding towards the costs involved in the conversion.

We have been so excited about this and so happy to be able to share it with you all (photos below) and to thank Tina for having a vision and for bringing it to life.

SOS Galgos in Barcelona, run by Anna Clements, is another centre we support and they are continuing to develop their educational activities by welcoming school visits.

The children are able to see and mingle with the rescued galgos and attend classes on animal welfare. During 2024 they received some 400 children, and in the first two months of this year they have given workshops to 146 children.

They recently had a visit from a Spanish public broadcaster covering their rescue and adoption processes as well as classes for one of the their education workshops comprising of nearly 30 five year old primary school children.

It will be aired on a Saturday morning prime-time slot in the near future and they feel hopeful that this exposure will generate adoptions not only for SOS Galgos but also for other charities in Spain

GIN encourages all young people (anywhere in the world) to join #teamgalgo. They can make their pledge to help the galgos and be included in the

#GoTeamGalgo gallery, by sending a photo with their pledge here https://education.greyhoundsinneed.co.uk/team-galgo/.
