Paloma and Wilfrid at Vic

May / June transportations

More transportations have taken place over the last couple of months to France, Belgium, Italy and Switzerland.

In May Wilfrid from Levriers en Difficulte went to Vic to collect Oregano, Flaca, Susi, Cori, Rodolfo and Paloma.

Josephine of Greyhounds Rescue Belgium flew to Alicante to collect Willow and Maizy from Andy and Gail of Noah’s Arc, Murcia.

Mari, Mori, Sakura, Argos, Ballarina, Minerva, Benjamin, Bolo, Quentin, Garfunkel and Emily, from Albacete, Almendralejo and Murcia, arrived by road to Antwerp and are now enjoying their new life in Belgium.

Judith at RECAL, Alemendralejo

On the transport to Belgium were two special galgos. Judith from RECAL in Almendralejo and Luca from Noah’s Arc in Murcia. Judith had been caught in a trap and lost part of her leg. Despite her ordeal she is a lovely galga, very friendly and now has a chance of a new life in a home in Belgium.

Luca was found in El Pareton by volunteers of Noah's Arc, where he had been for two days curled on the pavement before anyone called for help for him. When found he had difficulty standing on his front legs, both his legs and feet were badly swollen and he had cuts and grazes down his body. It is thought that he was knocked down by a passing car. X-rays showed that he had been shot with an airgun and had MANY pellets in both front legs from the elbow to the toes. He had been shot at close range. There are so many pellets the vet has said that they will have to stay in as to take them out will cause more stress, pain and suffering for the poor boy. He will make a full recovery but will show signs of his ordeal by possibly having a limp.

Alice now settled in France
Article about Alice in Mada's local newspaper in Almendralejo

Wilfrid, Levriers en Difficulte, made a special journey back to Vic to collect Alice. She was rescued by Mada of the RECAL refuge in Almendralejo and was then stolen from the refuge along with other dogs.  Mada managed to get Alice back and also had an article printed about her rescue in her local newspaper.   It seems that whoever took her tied her up with a cord or chain.  She had some circulation problems and her leg swelled up, she also had wounds on her paws.  She has been treated by Mada’s vet and by Pep at Vic and has now recovered enough to start her new life in France.

Manuela, Levriers Swiss Adoptions,  went to Vic to collect Ryhana, Juanes, Nelly, Roy, Amber, Chema and Susi, all from Albacete.

Elisa and Chiara of Greyhound Adopt Centre, Italy  (GACI) took Enya, Tiba, Amaral, Fortuna, Leni, Manoli, Uma, Marcos, Francis, Loutrec, Ricard, Carma, Ami, Candela, Eloisa, Gertru and Dana.

More trips are being planned and of course more galgos are already arriving to replace those leaving the kennels/refuges.

Thanks to everyone for making all these transportations possible.  Here are some of the photographs taken recently showing the dogs in transit and with their new owners.
