Greyhound Awareness Day at the Wilmslow Garden Centre, Cheshire

Fundraising Update

June and July are busy months for GIN supporters as fundraising events up and down the country take place most weekends.  The weather has been quite good so far for us and the attendance at many of the events has been fantastic.

Sue, Phil, Carol and many other GIN supporters in Cheshire have been busy organizing events – fundraising and awareness days, street collections, attending shows – if you can help in any way please contact Carol  on 01925 470992, 07872 621524 or Sue & Phil  on 0161 620 6094, always good to have some extra pairs of hands to help.

Sue and supporters at the Hengistbury Head Sponsored walk

Sue and Penny at the GIN shop in Bournemouth have also been busy raising approx. £900 from the Annual Sponsored Walk at Hengistbury Head.  Esme continues to help by organising street collections in Dorchester and is always in need of more helpers and their dogs ! – if you feel you could go along to these collections, even for a short while, please give Esme a ring on 01305 262320.

Christine and Rita in Sussex, Sue and Les in Worcestershire, Sian and Audrey in Wales all have events planned for this month and later in the year, please click on the EVENTS button to see full details of all the GIN events for 2008. Perhaps you can come along to some of the events and help on the stall or just enjoy a nice day out.

We were pleased to be invited to have a stand at the Dogs Trust Open Day and Fun Dog Show at the Harefield centre in Uxbridge. Over 5,000 people turned up for the event which must have been held on one of the hottest days of they year.  We had lots of interest in our work and many visitors coming to our stall.  Our new GIN Dog House game attracted a lot of people and kept Geoffrey busy for most of the day.  Tracey, John, Terry, Helen, Geoffrey, Carolyn and of course Lurchy took turns manning the stand.

Pat, Tracey, Catherine and Carolyn attended the Englefield Green show in  Surrey , a regular event for  GIN,  which again was well attended.  Another warm day and many visitors to the stall, we were lucky to be pitched next to the ice cream van !  Another new game – Guess where the dinosaurs have buried their bones – was popular with young and old.   Billy, in the photo here, was thrilled that he chose the right place and won a Dinosaur book and some cinema tickets.

For the first time GIN had a stall at the Annual Wraysbury Village Fete and Terry, Helen, Geraldine, Audrey, Bill and dogs spent a busy day manning the stall, giving out literature and making sure that the Lucky Dip box was kept full - always a favourite with the children!

Once again GIN had a stand at the Datchet Fete and Audrey, Tracey, Geoffrey and Carolyn went along to run the stand, the weather forecast had been poor but fortunately the rain held off all day and Audrey’s tombola proved very popular. On the same day, up in Cheshire, Carol, Sue and Phil were busy on the  GIN stall at the Wilmslow Show.

Many thanks to everyone for all their hard work organizing and attending events to help raise funds for GIN.

Don’t forget the Annual GIN picnic on the 13th July, meeting at 11am in the car park behind the Wheatsheaf Pub, Virginia Water, Surrey (for further details contact Carolyn and Tracey  – 01784 483206) – always a popular event in lovely surroundings where you can enjoy your picnic and  “talk greyhounds……and galgos”
