Pipa is a
lively, curious 18 month old girl. She is confident and outgoing and loves
to be cuddled. She is good with other dogs but is probably not cat
friendly. Due to her age and inexperience Pipa would benefit from an owner
who is firm but patient to help her settle into living in a house. She is
being fostered in South Wales where she lives with a female greyhound and
a male terrier, she gets on well with both and is playful and
affectionate.

Summer - Hello
everyone, yep it’s me again “Summer” and guess what, I’ve let the
side down. Carol found me a lovely home which went well for a while. I
settled in great but soon found that I felt that I had to protect the
family. That’s when the trouble started and I am now back with Jenny.
Jenny said that who ever adopts me has to forget my past and deal with the
problems that I am displaying at present. Jenny is really pleased with my
progress, in the house she said that I am an angel, I will settle anywhere
where my quilt is put down and if the back door is left open I love to lay
out in the sun. I love affection and give it in return but in this
household I’m the bottom of the pack and have to wait my turn but
don’t worry, I actually love it, Jenny takes control of all situations
and I can relax. My biggest problem is that I will bark at any dog
approaching me quickly and if they get into my personal space I’ll
react. Jenny’s been taking me to Dog Training Classes twice a week and I
love it, there are always rewards for good behaviour and I get more each
week I go, ….so I must be improving! Saying that I did get told off the
other day for chasing the cat out of the garden and jumping up at the bird
table but aren’t dogs meant to do that sort of thing? So
who ever adopts me has to be extra special, have time to spend with me on
walks and in the home. They would have to still take me training as I am
learning to trust other dogs near me and I really do like someone to take
charge of me. So preferably a quiet home with maybe one other older dog
would suit me fine, I’m not fussy but you have to be 100% sure that you
want me. Jenny said that anyone can visit so why not get in touch and see
what happens. |

Meet “Finn”
described as 30 minutes of chaos a day and 23.5 hours of calm and cuddles! Finn is a wonderful dog in many many ways but sadly has exhibited
some unacceptable dominance with the elderly dog he has been living with
and after lengthy consideration and much heartache his owners felt that
there was no solution but to ask us to help him find a new home. They have worked very hard with Finn to improve his behaviour
and this has helped him become the truly lovely dog he is but it is felt
that Finn needs to be in a home as an only pet and as such have provided
us with the following insight into his personality ………… Finn walks very well on the lead (if you use a halti) and after the
first 5 minutes of excitement he calms down and walks along quietly (with
the odd correction). He loves his toys, especially the squeaky stuffed
ones. He never steals or begs for food, but he will raid the bin if your
not looking- his favourite thing to steal is egg shells (weird but true).
Finn knows a few commands, he will bow when he first meets you if
you say 'BOW'. He lies down if you pat the floor in front of him and say
'DOWN', also whilst lying down he will roll over if you pat his chest and
say 'TUMMY'. Importantly, he
also knows the 'LEAVE' command and will not touch his food if you tell him
to ‘leave’, and then tell him it is ok. Finn is a very affectionate boy who loves his cuddles however, he
does have tendencies to dominate (if allowed) and therefore needs a strict
routine. Finn has never been
punished but it was discovered (whilst bathing the parrots at his previous
home) that Finn will stop any unwanted behaviour and lie down on his bed
at the mere site of a plant spray bottle. Despite
his previous owner’s best efforts Finn still has little or no reliable
recall and so cannot be walked off lead. Finn is a lovely lad and has come a long way in a relatively short
time and with continued training and an experienced owner Finn can
progress even further and make someone a wonderful pet. If you think you could offer a special home for Finn, please contact either Carol Cushnie on 01925 470992, 07872 621524 or Sue & Phil White on 0161 620 6094 |
